You need a card on file before you can make offers. Without one, your prices do not send instant offers, an offer by hand is turned down, and your Cars for sale page shows a reminder to add one. The card is how we collect our fee on the cars you win, so every offer a seller sees comes from a buyer with a card on file.
How to add one
A new account is asked for a card in its first setup, where you press Save my card. You can also add one at any time: go to Payment card in your menu, or to the Payment card section of Your profile, and press Add a card. Either way, you are taken to Stripe’s own secure page to type it in, and then brought back. We never see or store your full card number. Your Payment card page shows the card’s type and last four digits so you know which one is on file.
When it is charged
Only for a car you won, once it is marked picked up, or a few days after its pickup date if nobody reports a problem. Making offers, raising them and winning a car cost nothing on their own, and there is no monthly fee. Your fee terms are shown on your Cars for sale page, and once you have an offer on a car, its page shows the fee on that offer.
If a charge is declined
The fee stays on your account as owed, and we let you know. Pay it with the Pay button on your Payment card page. You can replace your card there at any time, but a new card is not charged for a fee that is already owed, so pay that one with the button.
