HOW IT WORKS

How selling your junk car works

Describe your car once. Buyers near you battle for it on price and on how soon they can come, and you pick the winner. It is free for sellers, and your number stays private.

Five steps from listed to paid

  1. Describe your car

The year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and your ZIP code. Add photos, the mileage and the VIN if you have them, and say when you need it gone: today, this week or no rush.

  2. Buyers send offers

Buyers near you who make offers here see your car. Some send an offer the moment you list, straight from their price sheet, and others look it over and send one by hand. Every offer says the earliest time that buyer can pick up.

  3. Watch them battle

Offers land on your own offers page, and we text you when a new top offer comes in. A buyer can raise an offer but never lower it, and can move their pickup sooner but never later. Want more from one of them? Ask, and only that buyer sees it.

  4. Pick your winner

Choose any offer, not only the biggest. Book the pickup at the time that buyer offered or any later time they have open, and message them from your page whenever you like.

  5. Get paid at pickup

The driver collects the car and you get the full offer, with free towing. After pickup we ask whether you got the whole amount, and if you did not, we step in.

Top, Fastest and Best of both

Your offers page shows the biggest offer in a big card at the top, and the buyer who can come soonest right under it. So a tow truck that can be there this afternoon has a real shot against a bigger offer that cannot come until next week. Every offer is in the list below, and the list marks them: Top for the biggest, Fastest for the soonest, and Best of both for the best offer that is among the three biggest and the three soonest, once there are more than three offers.

If you tell us you need the car gone today, your list starts with the soonest pickups. Otherwise it starts with the most cash. You can sort it either way, change your answer on the page at any time, and choose any offer you like.

TopThe biggest offer, in the big card at the top of your page.
FastestThe buyer who can pick up soonest, right under it.
BOTHBest of bothAn offer among the three biggest and the three soonest at once.

What buyers see, and what they never get

Buyers see

  • The car, your answers and any photos you add
  • Your first name and your area
  • When you need it gone
  • Where their own offer ranks, for cash and for speed

Buyers never get

  • Your phone number or email
  • Your street address, which only the driver sees, on pickup day
  • Any other buyer's offer

Messages go through your offers page, and numbers or email addresses typed into one are taken out before anyone sees them. After you pick a buyer, you can call them from your page and they can call you, and neither of you sees the other's number.

What happens on pickup day

The buyer you picked comes at the time you booked, or a driver of theirs does. Their driver's page shows your address on pickup day only, and the driver can call or tell you they are on the way through our line, so your number stays private to the end. The driver collects the car and pays you the offer you picked, with the tow included.

If the buyer does not come at the time you booked, or tries to pay less than their offer, say no and tell us on your offers page. We hold the sale, the buyer hears about it and our team steps in, and you can book a new time. Questions sellers ask

Is it free for sellers?

Yes. It costs you nothing to get offers or sell. Buyers pay us a fee only when they win your car, and it is on top of their offer, never taken out of it.

Will I get a lot of phone calls?

No. Offers arrive on your own offers page and we text you when they do. Buyers never get your phone number, not even the one you choose: calls go through our number.

Can I sell my car without a title?

Often, yes. Many buyers accept cars without a title if you can show ID and proof of ownership. Rules vary by state, and the offer may be lower.

Do I have to pay for towing?

No. Pickup is part of the offer. Turn down any buyer who adds a towing fee at pickup.

What if the buyer lowers the price at pickup?

You can say no. The offer you accepted is the price. Tell us on your offers page and we will step in.
