Cash for Junk Cars in Pittsburgh

How selling a junk car in Pittsburgh works

  1. Describe the car online

Fill in a short form with the year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and when you need it gone. Add photos, the mileage and the VIN if you can, because buyers who can see the car offer a price they can stand by. There is no phone call to make and nobody to wait on hold for.

  2. Let the buyers battle

Buyers around Pittsburgh who take cars from your ZIP send offers to your own offers page, each with the earliest time they can pick up. Your page shows the three who can come soonest beside the three who will pay the most, each offer shows the buyer's name and town, and you can message any of them through our site.

  3. Pick your winner and get paid

Choose the offer that suits you, whether that is the most cash, the soonest pickup or one near the top of both, and book that buyer's time or a later one they have open. The buyer tows the car for free and pays you the full amount when they collect it.

Offers can only go up while you compare. If a buyer tries to pay less at pickup you can say no, and after pickup we check that you were paid the full amount.

Rusty Hook Auto Salvage in Pittsburgh

4.8 Pittsburgh

Up on Mount Troy, Rusty Hook sells used parts and also buys junk cars, vans and even an old boat. Most sellers say the truck came within a few hours, often the same day, with free towing and a notary included. Drivers handed over the cash amount quoted. A few people never heard back after sending a quote request through the website.

Cash for Junk Cars Pittsburgh

4.9 Carnegie

Based on the west side near Carnegie, this small pickup service has hauled off scrap cars for cash, and several sellers say a driver arrived within an hour. A title was needed. Most of its reviews are six or more years old, so how it runs today is less clear than for busier buyers on this page.

Tow By Joe

4.5 Pittsburgh

This small tow company just north of the city buys junk cars and often shows up the same day, sometimes by noon on a morning request. Repeat sellers have handed it two or three cars and say the price held, with cash and the title done right there. A handful of reviews describe short, rude phone calls, so expect a gruff manner.

PGH Junk Cars

5.0 Pittsburgh

PGH Junk Cars has pulled trucks out of spots other companies turned down, including one behind a yard gate too narrow for a flatbed. Past sellers say a tow went out soon after a short quote, even to rural addresses, and paid cash on the spot. Some of its reviews are really about used-car sales and repairs at the same owner's shop off Babcock Boulevard.

D & D Auto Salvage

4.5 Pittsburgh

D&D is a drive-in scrap yard near Sharpsburg, which suits a car that still moves or one you can get towed there. People have driven in an old Camry, a van and an SUV and left with cash paid by weight. Most reviews are about scrap metal, and a few complain about how loads were graded at the scale.

Junk Car Pittsburgh / Pittsburgh Auto Salvage

4.0 Braddock

Braddock's Pittsburgh Auto Salvage buys junk and wrecked cars and sends its own truck for them, and past sellers mention cash paid up front. One family even had a phone left in the car brought back to the house. Reviews are thin and mostly several years old, and one seller had trouble getting a bill of sale.

Getting offers vs. calling around

Offers through BeaterBoss

  • You describe your car once, and every offer lands on the same page.
  • You see the offers side by side, so the best one is obvious.
  • Every offer says when that buyer can come, so you know before you choose.
  • An offer can only go up while you compare, never down.
  • Your number stays private, because calls and messages go through our line.
  • Every buyer here is a screened local business.

Calling yards yourself

  • You answer the same questions on every call.
  • Every yard quotes a different price, and you have nothing to compare it with.
  • You find out when each yard can come only by asking each one.
  • A price quoted on the phone can drop once the truck is in your driveway.
  • Your number ends up on every yard's list, and the calls keep coming after you sell.
  • Some listings that look local are call centers that sell your details on.

You might be wondering

How fast can a Pittsburgh buyer pick up my car?

Every offer says the earliest time that buyer can come, and your offers page shows the fastest pickup near the top, so the quickest Pittsburgh buyers are easy to spot. If you tell us you need it gone today, the list starts with the soonest pickups. You book the buyer's time or a later one they have open, up to a week ahead, so you can pick the time that suits you.

Can I call the Pittsburgh buyers listed here?

We don't list their phone numbers. Enter your ZIP and the buyers who cover it send offers to your offers page, so you compare prices side by side instead of calling yard after yard. Once you pick one, calls go through our number, so neither side's number is handed out.

How does BeaterBoss work?

Tell us about your car, your ZIP code and when you need it gone. Screened local junk car buyers send cash offers, and each one says the earliest time that buyer can pick up. Your offers page shows the top offer and the fastest pickup up front, and you pick the buyer you want.

What do Top, Fastest and Best of both mean?

Top is the biggest offer on your car. Fastest is the buyer who can pick it up soonest. Best of both marks an offer that is among the three biggest and the three soonest at once. They only point things out, so you can still choose any offer you like.

Do I need photos, the mileage or the VIN?

No, but the more you add, the more accurate your offers. Buyers price a car from what they can see, so photos of the front, the back, the dashboard showing the mileage (with the engine running, if it runs), the inside, any damage and the VIN plate let them offer a price they can stand by when they arrive. The VIN is on the dashboard by the windshield, or on the driver's door frame. Please don't add a photo of the title: it shows your address.

Is it free for sellers?

Yes. It costs you nothing to get offers or sell. Buyers pay us a fee only when they win your car, and it is on top of their offer, never taken out of it.

Will I get a lot of phone calls?

No. Offers arrive on your own offers page and we text you when they do. Buyers never get your phone number, not even the one you choose: calls go through our number.

Can I sell my car without a title?

Often, yes. Many buyers accept cars without a title if you can show ID and proof of ownership. Rules vary by state, and the offer may be lower.

What if the buyer lowers the price at pickup?

You can say no. The offer you accepted is the price. Tell us on your offers page and we will step in.

Why isn't a Pittsburgh business I found on Google listed?

It may not have met our bar, which is a 4.0 or better Google rating, usually from at least 10 reviews, and signs that the business actually buys vehicles. We also leave out call centers and listings named after search keywords.

Why are some buyers shown first?

Buyers who make offers through BeaterBoss are shown first, because you can get their price here without a phone call. They pay us a fee only when you pick them and they pick up the car; you never pay anything. Everyone else is shown in a different order on every visit, so no one is stuck at the top or the bottom.
