How selling a junk car in Philadelphia works

  1. Describe the car online

Fill in a short form with the year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and when you need it gone. Add photos, the mileage and the VIN if you can, because buyers who can see the car offer a price they can stand by. There is no phone call to make and nobody to wait on hold for.

  2. Let the buyers battle

Buyers around Philadelphia who take cars from your ZIP send offers to your own offers page, each with the earliest time they can pick up. Your page shows the three who can come soonest beside the three who will pay the most, each offer shows the buyer's name and town, and you can message any of them through our site.

  3. Pick your winner and get paid

Choose the offer that suits you, whether that is the most cash, the soonest pickup or one near the top of both, and book that buyer's time or a later one they have open. The buyer tows the car for free and pays you the full amount when they collect it.

C&H Junk Yard

5.0 Philadelphia

C&H is a small Philadelphia yard that does as much repair work as car buying, and many reviews are about engine swaps and body work. The few people who sold a car for scrap say the quote came fast, the truck came quickly and the price was fair. It is a fine local choice, but there is less here about buying cars than at most yards.

Rudy's Towing & Auto Salvage

4.7 Philadelphia

Rudy's is the yard to call when a car is hard to reach. Its drivers have pulled a dead car from a tiny garage behind a Philly rowhome, freed one parked tight on a busy street and driven out to Mount Laurel in South Jersey. Sellers say the cash matched the phone quote. It sells used parts too, and it will meet you after work.

Thompson Cash For Junk Car & Towing

5.0 Bensalem

Same-day pickup is normal for this Bensalem tow outfit, and several people had cash in hand an hour or two after calling. It has hauled a burned-out car off a street, a car that sat on a lawn for years and a truck with a blown head gasket. One seller notes the junk price is a flat rate, so don't expect to haggle.

Ideal Auto Recycling - Cash For Junk Cars

4.9 Bristol

Ideal is a Bristol recycler in Bucks County that tends to move fast. A junk car reported on a Sunday night was gone Monday morning with cash paid, and another was picked up half an hour after the price was given. It took two cars in one trip for one family. One seller did get a higher offer from a Trenton yard.

Atlas Auto Recycling

4.9 Lansdale

This Lansdale yard gives a price for a junker and sticks to it, people who sold there say. Pickups have come within a few hours, and a family who drove a car in without warning was still taken care of. The owner is busy and replies can lag. One seller with a wrecked car says the yard helped clear up the whole mess.

Cash For Junk Cars

5.0 Wilmington

Wilmington sellers with cars that no longer run say this tow buyer came early, kept them updated and paid a fair price. One person used it twice, first for an old Tahoe and then for another junk car. It also answered on a late Saturday. Only a handful of reviews have full text, but all of them are positive.

Atlantic Towing & Auto Salvage - We Buy Junk Cars

4.6 North Wales

Mainly a Philadelphia tow company, Atlantic has also bought junk cars, with cash in hand less than half an hour after one Saturday call. Its drivers have rescued people stuck near I-95 and on a median late at night. Most reviews are about towing and many are old, so car buying is a small part of the record.

Essington Avenue Used Auto Parts

4.4 Philadelphia

Southwest Philly's Essington Avenue yard is mainly a used parts seller, but it has bought plenty of cars too. Its crew came back a second time to free a car stuck in a garage with no keys and flat tires. Online quotes have turned into same-day pickups, paid in cash for some and by mailed check for others. Most car-selling reviews are older.

Apex Towing

4.9 Chester

Apex is a Chester body shop that also buys junk cars, and speed is what people bring up most. Trucks have shown up within the hour, and one seller who called late at night had the car gone by nine the next morning. Junk Cars Near Me

4.7 Philadelphia

Trucks from this Philadelphia outfit often arrive within the hour, and sellers keep saying the cash matched the phone quote. A couple of older reviews complain about low offers, but the recent ones are steady.

Albion Auto & Truck Parts

4.6 Berlin

Albion is a parts yard in Berlin, out in South Jersey, best known for the engines and wheels it sells and ships. You might be wondering

How fast can a Philadelphia buyer pick up my car?

Every offer says the earliest time that buyer can come, and your offers page shows the fastest pickup near the top, so the quickest Philadelphia buyers are easy to spot. If you tell us you need it gone today, the list starts with the soonest pickups. You book the buyer's time or a later one they have open, up to a week ahead, so you can pick the time that suits you.

Can I call the Philadelphia buyers listed here?

We don't list their phone numbers. Enter your ZIP and the buyers who cover it send offers to your offers page, so you compare prices side by side instead of calling yard after yard. Once you pick one, calls go through our number, so neither side's number is handed out.

How does BeaterBoss work?

Tell us about your car, your ZIP code and when you need it gone. Screened local junk car buyers send cash offers, and each one says the earliest time that buyer can pick up. Your offers page shows the top offer and the fastest pickup up front, and you pick the buyer you want.

What do Top, Fastest and Best of both mean?

Top is the biggest offer on your car. Fastest is the buyer who can pick it up soonest. Best of both marks an offer that is among the three biggest and the three soonest at once. They only point things out, so you can still choose any offer you like.

Do I need photos, the mileage or the VIN?

No, but the more you add, the more accurate your offers. Buyers price a car from what they can see, so photos of the front, the back, the dashboard showing the mileage (with the engine running, if it runs), the inside, any damage and the VIN plate let them offer a price they can stand by when they arrive. The VIN is on the dashboard by the windshield, or on the driver's door frame. Please don't add a photo of the title: it shows your address.

Is it free for sellers?

Yes. It costs you nothing to get offers or sell. Buyers pay us a fee only when they win your car, and it is on top of their offer, never taken out of it.

Will I get a lot of phone calls?

No. Offers arrive on your own offers page and we text you when they do. Buyers never get your phone number, not even the one you choose: calls go through our number.

Can I sell my car without a title?

Often, yes. Many buyers accept cars without a title if you can show ID and proof of ownership. Rules vary by state, and the offer may be lower.

What if the buyer lowers the price at pickup?

You can say no. The offer you accepted is the price. Tell us on your offers page and we will step in.

Why isn't a Philadelphia business I found on Google listed?

It may not have met our bar, which is a 4.0 or better Google rating, usually from at least 10 reviews, and signs that the business actually buys vehicles. We also leave out call centers and listings named after search keywords.

Why are some buyers shown first?

Buyers who make offers through BeaterBoss are shown first, because you can get their price here without a phone call. They pay us a fee only when you pick them and they pick up the car; you never pay anything. Everyone else is shown in a different order on every visit, so no one is stuck at the top or the bottom.
