How selling a junk car in Boston works

  1. Describe the car online

Fill in a short form with the year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and when you need it gone. Add photos, the mileage and the VIN if you can, because buyers who can see the car offer a price they can stand by. There is no phone call to make and nobody to wait on hold for.

  2. Let the buyers battle

Buyers around Boston who take cars from your ZIP send offers to your own offers page, each with the earliest time they can pick up. Your page shows the three who can come soonest beside the three who will pay the most, each offer shows the buyer's name and town, and you can message any of them through our site.

  3. Pick your winner and get paid

Choose the offer that suits you, whether that is the most cash, the soonest pickup or one near the top of both, and book that buyer's time or a later one they have open. The buyer tows the car for free and pays you the full amount when they collect it.

Offers can only go up while you compare. If a buyer tries to pay less at pickup you can say no, and after pickup we check that you were paid the full amount.

Patricio Junk Car Removal

4.9 Plympton

Sellers south of Boston describe a fast handoff here. One had the car gone and cash in hand about two hours after first reaching out, at the price quoted. The driver has pulled a wrecked van out of a tight spot and taken an old GMC Sierra and a broken-down Prius. One recent seller felt a truck offer came in low before anyone looked at it.

Damons Junk Car & Truck Removal

5.0 East Bridgewater

Damon's has hauled junk cars out of towns like Kingston within an hour or two of the request and paid cash at the curb. The owner gets credit for being straight about price, even telling one seller the car might fetch more if they waited a month or two. Most reviews are short, and many are several years old.

PicardiWorks Junk Car Removal & Towing

5.0 East Taunton

From East Taunton, PicardiWorks has paid sellers more than the other quotes they collected, then shown up the next day or within a couple of hours with a bill of sale ready. Repeat customers say it keeps coming through on short notice. It sits toward the far south end of Greater Boston, so it suits towns between Brockton and Taunton best.

Chamo Towing & Cash For Junk Cars

5.0 Norwood

This Norwood tow outfit buys junk cars and moves fast. Recent sellers had a car gone the next day, and one had it hauled off by early afternoon on the same day they reached out. It matched a higher offer from another company for one seller and has paid by Venmo. Only a few of its reviews say much, though all of them are recent.

Fastway Towing Services

4.8 Melrose

Fastway Towing in Melrose buys cars as well as towing them. Past sellers got next-day pickups and were paid exactly what was quoted up front, and one was handed cash in a pouring rain. A local body shop uses it for its own tows. Its reviews are few and spread over several years, so the record is short.

114 Auto Salvage - Cash For Junk Cars

4.9 Middleton

Out on Route 114 in Middleton, this salvage yard sends a truck for unwanted cars, usually within a day. One seller had a Mazda with a blown transmission taken for what they called a generous price, and another has sold it two cars over four years. It also sells used parts, so some reviews are about that instead.

Chuckran Auto Parts, Inc.

4.8 Bridgewater

A big family-run yard in Bridgewater that does junk car removal alongside its used parts business. Recent sellers describe a scheduled pickup with a heads-up from the driver before arrival, a fair price for a beater, and good follow-up from the office. The few unhappy reviews are mostly about parts purchases, not cars it bought.

J&P Towing Svc and Junk Car Removal

5.0 Peabody

Most of what people write about this Peabody company is plain towing around the North Shore, often late at night or on short notice, at prices they called fair. One seller junked a car with them for cash and found it quick and easy. It is a fast option, but the car-buying side has little review history behind it.

MM towing cash 4 junk cars

5.0 Swampscott

A small tow operation buying junk cars around Lynn and the North Shore. A couple of sellers said its offer beat other places and the truck showed up in under twenty minutes. Most of its reviews are one or two words, so there is less detail to go on here than for other buyers on this page.

Junk Car Removal Revere

4.9 Saugus

Based in Saugus near the Revere line, this removal service often comes the same day, sometimes within the hour. Sellers have had a 4x4 pulled out of a narrow driveway on a busy street and a family's hoarded cars cleared out, with cash paid at pickup. Reviews mention clear updates on when the driver would arrive.

Jeff's Removal & Recycling

4.9 Hanover

This Hanover remover has been hauling cars off South Shore driveways for close to forty years. Pickups often happen within an hour, including dead Jeeps, old work vans and a car stuck behind a snowbank, with cash paid on the spot. Campers and RVs go too, though those have come with a disposal fee rather than a payment.

Getting offers vs. calling around

Offers through BeaterBoss

  • You describe your car once, and every offer lands on the same page.
  • You see the offers side by side, so the best one is obvious.
  • Every offer says when that buyer can come, so you know before you choose.
  • An offer can only go up while you compare, never down.
  • Your number stays private, because calls and messages go through our line.
  • Every buyer here is a screened local business.

Calling yards yourself

  • You answer the same questions on every call.
  • Every yard quotes a different price, and you have nothing to compare it with.
  • You find out when each yard can come only by asking each one.
  • A price quoted on the phone can drop once the truck is in your driveway.
  • Your number ends up on every yard's list, and the calls keep coming after you sell.
  • Some listings that look local are call centers that sell your details on.

Massachusetts rules

What you need to sell a junk car in Boston

  • Reporting the saleRequired
  • Your registration ends when you sell the car. You can move it and your plates to another vehicle you own through the Massachusetts RMV.
  • When you hand over the car, sign the title over to the buyer and write in the actual odometer reading.
  • Massachusetts law says to return your registration certificate to the Massachusetts RMV right away, with the sale date and the buyer's name and address.
  • Lost your title? Apply to the Massachusetts RMV for a duplicate.
  • A yard that takes your car to junk it must send the title, or other proof of ownership the RMV requires, to the RMV within 10 days.
  • Federal law: if your car is a 2011 or newer, write the mileage on the title when you sign it. A 2010 or older car is exempt.

Checked October 2026 against the official sources below. Rules change, so if anything here does not match your situation, the Massachusetts RMV has the final word.

You might be wondering

How fast can a Boston buyer pick up my car?

Every offer says the earliest time that buyer can come, and your offers page shows the fastest pickup near the top, so the quickest Boston buyers are easy to spot. If you tell us you need it gone today, the list starts with the soonest pickups. You book the buyer's time or a later one they have open, up to a week ahead, so you can pick the time that suits you.

Can I call the Boston buyers listed here?

We don't list their phone numbers. Enter your ZIP and the buyers who cover it send offers to your offers page, so you compare prices side by side instead of calling yard after yard. Once you pick one, calls go through our number, so neither side's number is handed out.

What do I need to sell a junk car in Massachusetts?

Your registration ends when you sell the car. You can move it and your plates to another vehicle you own through the Massachusetts RMV. When you hand over the car, sign the title over to the buyer and write in the actual odometer reading. Massachusetts law says to return your registration certificate to the Massachusetts RMV right away, with the sale date and the buyer's name and address. Lost your title? Apply to the Massachusetts RMV for a duplicate. A yard that takes your car to junk it must send the title, or other proof of ownership the RMV requires, to the RMV within 10 days. If you can't find the title, say so on the form and message buyers before you choose, because some can still take the car.

How does BeaterBoss work?

Tell us about your car, your ZIP code and when you need it gone. Screened local junk car buyers send cash offers, and each one says the earliest time that buyer can pick up. Your offers page shows the top offer and the fastest pickup up front, and you pick the buyer you want.

What do Top, Fastest and Best of both mean?

Top is the biggest offer on your car. Fastest is the buyer who can pick it up soonest. Best of both marks an offer that is among the three biggest and the three soonest at once. They only point things out, so you can still choose any offer you like.

Do I need photos, the mileage or the VIN?

No, but the more you add, the more accurate your offers. Buyers price a car from what they can see, so photos of the front, the back, the dashboard showing the mileage (with the engine running, if it runs), the inside, any damage and the VIN plate let them offer a price they can stand by when they arrive. The VIN is on the dashboard by the windshield, or on the driver's door frame. Please don't add a photo of the title: it shows your address.

Is it free for sellers?

Yes. It costs you nothing to get offers or sell. Buyers pay us a fee only when they win your car, and it is on top of their offer, never taken out of it.

Will I get a lot of phone calls?

No. Offers arrive on your own offers page and we text you when they do. Buyers never get your phone number, not even the one you choose: calls go through our number.

Can I sell my car without a title?

Often, yes. Many buyers accept cars without a title if you can show ID and proof of ownership. Rules vary by state, and the offer may be lower.

What if the buyer lowers the price at pickup?

You can say no. The offer you accepted is the price. Tell us on your offers page and we will step in.

Why isn't a Boston business I found on Google listed?

It may not have met our bar, which is a 4.0 or better Google rating, usually from at least 10 reviews, and signs that the business actually buys vehicles. We also leave out call centers and listings named after search keywords.

Why are some buyers shown first?

Buyers who make offers through BeaterBoss are shown first, because you can get their price here without a phone call. They pay us a fee only when you pick them and they pick up the car; you never pay anything. Everyone else is shown in a different order on every visit, so no one is stuck at the top or the bottom.
