How selling a junk car in Atlanta works

  1. Describe the car online

Fill in a short form with the year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and when you need it gone. Add photos, the mileage and the VIN if you can, because buyers who can see the car offer a price they can stand by. There is no phone call to make and nobody to wait on hold for.

  2. Let the buyers battle

Buyers around Atlanta who take cars from your ZIP send offers to your own offers page, each with the earliest time they can pick up. Your page shows the three who can come soonest beside the three who will pay the most, each offer shows the buyer's name and town, and you can message any of them through our site.

  3. Pick your winner and get paid

Choose the offer that suits you, whether that is the most cash, the soonest pickup or one near the top of both, and book that buyer's time or a later one they have open. The buyer tows the car for free and pays you the full amount when they collect it.

AHS Cash for Junk Cars

5.0 Lilburn

A one-man shop in Lilburn that has bought junk cars across Gwinnett for years. People describe a quote over the phone, a pickup the same day, sometimes inside an hour, and the quoted price paid in cash. One family sold two vehicles on a Sunday. Several came here after another buyer tried to change the price at the curb.

Extreme Cash runs a busy intown operation where one person quotes and a tow driver comes out, often within a few hours. Sellers of cars that no longer drive were surprised to get a few hundred dollars in cash, and most say the phone price held. It does not haggle much, and one seller had a counteroffer by text turned down flat.

5.0 Atlanta

You may have seen this buyer's signs around metro Atlanta. Its owner picks up cars the same day from a base on the west side, and sellers describe a Nissan Altima with front end damage, two cars cleared off one property and a pickup as far away as Columbus. It also sells used cars and parts, and nobody reports a price cut at pickup.

Getting offers vs. calling around

Offers through BeaterBoss

  • You see the offers side by side, so the best one is obvious.
  • Every offer says when that buyer can come, so you know before you choose.
  • An offer can only go up while you compare, never down.
  • Your number stays private, because calls and messages go through our line.

Calling yards yourself

  • You answer the same questions on every call.
  • Every yard quotes a different price, and you have nothing to compare it with.
  • You find out when each yard can come only by asking each one.
  • A price quoted on the phone can drop once the truck is in your driveway.
  • Your number ends up on every yard's list, and the calls keep coming after you sell.
  • Some listings that look local are call centers that sell your details on.

Georgia rules

What you need to sell a junk car in Atlanta

  • PlatesYou take them off
  • Your plates stay with you, not the car. You can keep them, move them to another car, or turn them in to the Georgia DOR.
  • Print and sign your name as seller on the back of the title, and fill in the buyer's name, address, sale date and mileage.
  • Cancel the car's registration online through DRIVES e-Services or at your county tag office. Do it before you cancel your insurance.
  • Lost the title? A replacement costs $8 at your county tag office.
  • No title? A lien-free car 12 model years or older and worth under $850 can go to a licensed scrap or parts buyer on Form MV-1SP.
  • Federal law: if your car is a 2011 or newer, write the mileage on the title when you sign it. A 2010 or older car is exempt.

You might be wondering

How fast can a Atlanta buyer pick up my car?

Every offer says the earliest time that buyer can come, and your offers page shows the fastest pickup near the top, so the quickest Atlanta buyers are easy to spot. If you tell us you need it gone today, the list starts with the soonest pickups. You book the buyer's time or a later one they have open, up to a week ahead, so you can pick the time that suits you.

Can I call the Atlanta buyers listed here?

We don't list their phone numbers. Enter your ZIP and the buyers who cover it send offers to your offers page, so you compare prices side by side instead of calling yard after yard. Once you pick one, calls go through our number, so neither side's number is handed out.

What do I need to sell a junk car in Georgia?

Your plates stay with you, not the car. You can keep them, move them to another car, or turn them in to the Georgia DOR. Print and sign your name as seller on the back of the title, and fill in the buyer's name, address, sale date and mileage. Cancel the car's registration online through DRIVES e-Services or at your county tag office. Do it before you cancel your insurance. Lost the title? A replacement costs $8 at your county tag office. No title? A lien-free car 12 model years or older and worth under $850 can go to a licensed scrap or parts buyer on Form MV-1SP. If you can't find the title, say so on the form and message buyers before you choose, because some can still take the car.

How does BeaterBoss work?

Tell us about your car, your ZIP code and when you need it gone. Screened local junk car buyers send cash offers, and each one says the earliest time that buyer can pick up. Your offers page shows the top offer and the fastest pickup up front, and you pick the buyer you want.

What do Top, Fastest and Best of both mean?

Top is the biggest offer on your car. Fastest is the buyer who can pick it up soonest. Best of both marks an offer that is among the three biggest and the three soonest at once. They only point things out, so you can still choose any offer you like.

Do I need photos, the mileage or the VIN?

No, but the more you add, the more accurate your offers. Buyers price a car from what they can see, so photos of the front, the back, the dashboard showing the mileage (with the engine running, if it runs), the inside, any damage and the VIN plate let them offer a price they can stand by when they arrive. The VIN is on the dashboard by the windshield, or on the driver's door frame. Please don't add a photo of the title: it shows your address.

Is it free for sellers?

Yes. It costs you nothing to get offers or sell. Buyers pay us a fee only when they win your car, and it is on top of their offer, never taken out of it.

Will I get a lot of phone calls?

No. Offers arrive on your own offers page and we text you when they do. Buyers never get your phone number, not even the one you choose: calls go through our number.

Can I sell my car without a title?

Often, yes. Many buyers accept cars without a title if you can show ID and proof of ownership. Rules vary by state, and the offer may be lower.

What if the buyer lowers the price at pickup?

You can say no. The offer you accepted is the price. Tell us on your offers page and we will step in.

Why isn't a Atlanta business I found on Google listed?

It may not have met our bar, which is a 4.0 or better Google rating, usually from at least 10 reviews, and signs that the business actually buys vehicles. We also leave out call centers and listings named after search keywords.

Why are some buyers shown first?

Buyers who make offers through BeaterBoss are shown first, because you can get their price here without a phone call. They pay us a fee only when you pick them and they pick up the car; you never pay anything. Everyone else is shown in a different order on every visit, so no one is stuck at the top or the bottom.
